Overview
We are seeking a Senior Systems Architect & Design Engineer to lead the architecture and design of advanced missile defense and Command & Control (C2) systems supporting national defense missions. This role sits at the intersection of operational concepts, system architecture, and technical execution, shaping complex, mission-critical systems from concept through implementation.
This is a principal-level individual contributor role requiring deep experience in defense systems, battle management, and large-scale C2 architectures.
Key Responsibilities

Lead end-to-end system architecture and design for missile defense and C2 platforms

Develop and refine Concepts of Operations (CONOPS) aligned to mission objectives

Apply DoD architecture frameworks (DoDAF 2.0 / MODAF) to guide system structure and integration

Architect and evaluate C4ISR systems, including sensor fusion, track correlation, and fire control workflows

Design modern architectures leveraging data mesh, microservices, and event-driven systems

Define and manage Interface Control Documents (ICDs) and system APIs
-
Collaborate with software, systems, and operational stakeholders across programs
-
Provide technical leadership and architectural guidance throughout system lifecycle phases
Required Qualifications

10+ years of experience in missile defense, battle management, or large-scale defense systems

Proven expertise in missile defense or C2 architecture

Strong working knowledge of DoDAF 2.0 and/or MODAF
-
Hands-on experience with C4ISR systems, including sensor integration and fire control

Experience designing distributed systems using microservices and event-driven architectures

Demonstrated ability to author and manage ICDs and APIs

Ability to operate at both strategic architecture and detailed technical levels
Preferred / Specialized Experience

Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)

Familiarity with the F2T2EA kill chain

Experience with JADC2 and/or ABMS initiatives

Exposure to missile defense platforms such as AEGIS, THAAD, or Patriot

Knowledge of cross-domain solutions, Zero Trust architectures, and MLS environments
-
Experience integrating AI/ML capabilities into defense systems (e.g., Maven, Lattice)
